Just A Lotta Animals II by Lordwormm Just A Lotta Animals II by Lordwormm
One of the best books DC ever published was Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew by Scott Shaw! and Roy Thomas.

In the book, we met animal versions of the mainstream DC universe on Earth C-Minus.

There was an issue with these guys in it and It is firmly ingrained in my memory that that was the first time I ever read the word "agenda". I looked it up immediately to see what it meant.
Someone (I think it was SuperSquirrel) asked Hawkmoose what was on the agenda for that day's JLA(nimals) meeting.
When I was in 2nd grade, I read on an 8th grade reading level, and it was because of stuff like that.
Since then, and even now, whenever I hear some schmuck going on with that hoary old "Comic books rot your brain" nonsense, I laugh at them, and, like some Pavlovian response, i immediately get a mental flash of Hawkmoose in my mind's eye.

That story strikes such a chord with me man, I have some similar experiences that not many people I know relate to.  I remember reading Metal Men, Metamorpho and Secret Wars and Crisis, they taught me words no kids our age knew.  Absorption, transference, mutation, concussion!  :)  I used to pronounce NAZI like this...

NAH-Z-EYE  Then I learned what a disgusting bastard was and learned how to pronounce it.  :)

Continually amazing.  Of course, Hoppy wasn't JLA, BUT HE WAS IN SPIRIT DOGGONE IT.

Good call.  I drew them pretty randomly and they ended up in the line together.  It happened to work if you imagine the Earth CMinus world progressed the same as Earth 1.  Assuming, that is, Hoppy's universe was? the same as the JLAnimals.

We never really got a definitive answer on that, did we?  Kinda funny, considering the JLAnimals were originally slated to appear as one panel cameos in Hoppy's return in DC Comics Presents.

I did not know that, but it makes me sad for what could have been! :)

He didn't create these himself, these are actual DC characters that he's just doing fan art of.
