I think they should totally bring Plas back and keep trying to get him an ongoing series.
Here's my idea, Adventure Comics with The Plastic Man Family.
Left to right...
Gordon K. Trueblood, Plas' sidekick from the early days.
Hula Hula, Plas' sidekick from the cartoon show.
Woozy Winks, Plas' most well known sidekick.
Penny, Plas' girl-friday from the cartoon.
Offspring, Plas' son from current DC continuity who may or may not be Baby Plas from the cartoon.
Plastic Man
Murphy, Plas' boss from teh early comics. I think he was a chief, sgt., commissioner and may have even worked for the FBI at times.
Dr. Dome, Plas' biggest arch-nemesis that I am aware of. He popped up quite a bit in the comics. I changed his outfit a tad, not that there's much you can do to improve that!
ALL CHARACTERS (C) DC comics, except maybe Penny & Hula.

Plastic Man don't get enough credit as a superhero. I can understand he's not your typical serious superhero, but he makes the world a better place with his sense of humor and imagination.
What if Offspring had children and Plastic Man becomes a grandfather? That'll be interesting.
