The movie WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT? was adapted from the original book WHO CENSORED ROGER RABBIT? by Gary K. Wolf.
There are lots of interesting changes you can retroactively see if you read it. The fact that Roger is a famous Comic Strip character instead of a Film star!!
The descriptions of the characters aren't 100% complete, but there are enough details to form an image. This is my interpretation of the Roger, Eddie Valiant and Jessica Rabbit, based on those descriptions.

The doppel Roger explained to Eddie that doppels only last long enough to carry out a fatal stunt, BUT since the real Roger put a special effort into creating him., he had his personality, memories, etc. BUT only up to when he was created. He had no memory of being shot ! THAT Eddie had to find out, and the doop of Roger was slowly detiorating.
